It’s Time to Introduce You to 181 Moorabool Street, Geelong.
June 22nd
At Gartland, we are strong advocates for the Geelong community and its businesses. We believe in fostering growth and development in the region, so we are proud to say that the past 12 months have been one of collaboration, which has resulted in the Geelong community receiving a much-needed resource and service.
181 Moorabool Street is set to become home to a new mental health hub facilitated by Barwon Health, allowing the community greater access to a range of support and care services.
Following the initial tender process, we worked alongside Barwon Health and our client Up Property over a 12 month period to finalise one of the most significant Geelong CBD leasing deals in decades, with $16m in funding secured from the State Government.
With construction set to commence this month and on track for completion at the end of 2022, the facility will see three levels added to the existing building, along with a retail precinct featuring on the ground floor.
Geelong based construction company, Lyons Construction, has been appointed as the builder for the 3,268sqm facility, and it will have a focus on state-of-the-art architecture and sustainability, designed to a 5star NABERS specification.
The contemporary, fit-for-purpose facility will create over 100 jobs in the Geelong community; and will help to switch the focus from the recent gentrification of central Geelong to the revitalisation of the south end of Moorabool Street.
We envisage the flow of pedestrians will now expand beyond the thriving laneways precinct once the hub is complete, helping to bring vibrancy to a new section of the CBD.
This leasing deal is a fantastic and significant outcome for the Geelong city, community and businesses, along with our clients Up Property, who also developed the new head office for NewsCorp (Geelong Advertiser) in the Little Malop Street precinct.
We look forward to working with Barwon Health and Up Property to bring this project to life.
